WORK STUDY COORD
The Work Study Coordinator is responsible for student placement and applicable recordkeeping associated with a college work study program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
Greets visitors to the Financial Aid Office, retrieves financial aid information from computer files, answers telephone calls, and sends out document tracking letters to departments.
Receives position requests from departments, reviews job duties of position, and determines work schedules within department.
Interviews students to determine appropriate placements, assigns students to work study positions, and assists students in completing required forms.
Reviews and maintains payroll records by receiving time sheets, verifying signatures, and hours worked.
Tabulates and records time and hours worked for payroll and checks computer reports for accuracy.
Receives complaints for departments and/or student workers and resolves problems through conferences and/or reassignment.
Issues performance rating documentation on student workers and reviews results upon return from departments.
Prepares various information for reports on work study program, such as program charges, hours worked, and statistical data on awards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of interviewing techniques. Knowledge of recordkeeping and general office procedures. Ability to interview students for work study placement. Ability to maintain payroll time sheet records.
Ability to discuss and resolve problems.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of experience in reviewing documentation for compliance or a related area.
Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.
OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
